TAKING CARE OF CRICKET

From prevention to protection, safeguarding in sport is everyone’s responsibility and we’re determined and committed to keeping young people and adults at risk out of harm’s way both on and off the cricket pitch.

We comply fully with the ECB Safe Hands Policy- this is the England and Wales Cricket Board’s policy to safeguard children and adults at risk within cricket. It promotes good practice, helps raise awareness and ensures people know what to do if they have any concerns about children or the behaviour of adults in cricket.

We also oversee the safeguarding compliance of every cricket club in Northamptonshire, supported by an amazing teams of trained Club Safeguarding Officers. Their job isn’t always glamorous, but without these superstars, cricket couldn’t happen.

Thank you to every volunteer safeguarding officer, you’re all amazing!

SAFEGUARDING TRAINING

Safeguarding Level 2 is the new course from the Cricket Regulator safeguarding team on behalf of the ECB.  It will provide the learner with what to look out for and how to respond to concerns.

About the course

If you’re a safeguarding officer, coach, scorer or activator, it’s mandatory to complete this course. For umpires, committee members, team captains or managers, then it’s a great idea to complete it – we think you’ll find it helpful.

Aims and objectives

– Create a safe and inclusive cricket environment
– Describe what a safeguarding concern is
– Respond appropriately to concerns
– Describe how to report and record safeguarding concerns

The course accreditation will last for 3 years. If you already hold the Safeguarding for Specialist Roles accreditation, you’ll need to complete a new Level 2 course as soon as that lapses (three years after completion)
